When you think of the best female car clubs in the UK, you picture more than horsepower. You picture women who love the thrill of the road, the elegance of travel, and the joy of sharing every mile. Our Women in Wheels road trip to Reims, France was just that — a mix of iconic drives, champagne tastings, and unforgettable laughter.

Friday: Calais to Champagne Cellars - luxury driving weekend France

The convoy rolled off at Calais, heading straight for Reims to begin our luxury driving weekend in France. Our first stop was the legendary Pommery Champagne House, where we toured the vast underground caves and toasted our arrival with a glass of bubbles.

After a quick hotel refresh, the evening began at Le Gaulois where a few of our members sampled escargots for the first (and possibly last) time. From there, it was onto the champagne bars in front of the illuminated Notre-Dame Cathedral of Reims — the perfect setting for our first night in the Champagne capital.

Saturday: Supercars, Cathedrals & Circuits

Saturday morning saw us back in Reims, soaking in the beauty of the cathedral. We even caught the attention of a local car spotter who tracked us down for photos — proof that female supercar drivers never go unnoticed.

From there, we headed to the legendary Reims-Gueux Circuit. Once the stage of Formula 1 legends, the abandoned track is now a pilgrimage for enthusiasts. Cameras clicked, videos rolled, and the spirit of motorsport history came alive again through our group.

The route continued through the charming villages of Cheney, Hermonville, Berry-au-Bac, and Chambry, before reaching Arras. It was here we discovered a bittersweet sight: an abandoned Ferrari 360 Spider sitting in the hotel car park. Once a symbol of speed, now left behind — a reminder of why cars should be driven and celebrated.

Dinner that night? A comedy of errors. In a traditional French restaurant with no English menus, ordering became a three-and-a-half-hour performance of gestures, miscommunications, and unexpected dishes. Gluten-free? Lost in translation. Correct orders? Rare. But the laughter, and the memories made it a highlight of the trip.

Ending Arras with the ladies coming to the rescue. As we went to our car we came across 4 French people that had been stranded. Their car would not start. Thankfully we all had our jump packs in the car except Bex, hers was in her hand bag. So the WIW saved the day.

Sunday: Scenic Goodbyes

Our final day took us north to Aire-sur-la-Lys and onwards to Dunkirk for a relaxed farewell lunch before the journey home. A gentle close to a weekend of adrenaline, elegance, and connection.
